Established in 1989, world-renowned Deep Creek Fishing Club is proudly Alaska owned and run.   This ocean-front log lodge, affectionately known as, "the Home of the Fisherman”, is the culmination of a life-long dream of Steve & Vivian Moe.

Steve & Vivian Moe in the early 90's, when they operated Deep Creek Fishing Club from the lighthouse.

Deep Creek Fishing Club began with the Lighthouse property on the edge of the bluff that overlooks Deep Creek. Three small cabins housed a total of 6 guests and meals were taken in the base of the lighthouse. During these years, the Moes shaped their fishing program outline that is still in use today. Whilst guest lodging was comparatively rustic at the Lighthouse, many a guest still speak of how intimate and cozy the experience was. Consider that during the first 2 years,  guests used an outhouse for ablutions!  (Bathrooms were installed in 1994).

In 2000, the Moes were able to realize their log-lodge dream, breaking ground in April that year and building the new lodge through the summer whilst continuing to  operate out of the Lighthouse. The oceanfront log lodge has 9 fireplaces and offers stunning views of the volcanoes and the Inlet.  Three duplex cabins cater exclusively to parties up to 12.

Steve Moe grew up in Alaska, enjoying many fishing and hunting adventures with his father from a very young age. The love of all these experiences and a desire to share them with others, inspired him to become a fishing guide in 1978. He obtained his US Coast Guard Captain’s license in 1981 and has been successfully guiding salt and freshwater anglers ever since.

Vivian Moe came to the Last Frontier state in 1994, keen to embrace the adventurous spirit that Alaska offered.  With a background in administration, a love of nature and a heart for service, she gladly joined Steve in creating the experience that is today’s Deep Creek Fishing Club. She handles all the details so that each guest can enjoy the lodge and its surroundings, its fine dining, great fishing, and unparalleled personal service.

You can have confidence in the 50+ years of combined experience that the Moe family brings to your Alaskan adventure. The goal is to still provide each guest with a sense of the adventurous Alaskan spirit while enjoying great fishing, great dining, and great fellowship in one of the most beautiful spaces in the world.

Teamwork: Working together since 1994, and along with their dedicated staff, the Moes are sincerely driven to show every guest the natural beauty, the diverse wildlife and the untouched wonder of Alaska while catching its many species of fish.
